Mumbai International Boat Show 2012 to Showcase the Latest in Leisure Boating
Published: 17/02/2012 by Mumbai International Boat Show
After five increasingly successful shows, the 6th edition of the annual Mumbai International Boat Show (MIBS 2012) will bring some of the latest in leisure boating industry from around the world. To be held from February 23rd to the 26th at the sprawling MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex, the MIBS 2012 will showcase a variety of day boats, speed boats, security boats, personal watercrafts, kayaks, boating accessories, marine engines, marine toys and some of the finest, most luxurious yachts, large boats and sail boats.
The four day annual leisure boating event has over the years seen a steady increase of international marine exhibitors. Touted as India’s largest and only truly international boat show, MIBS 2012 will bring a unique opportunity to participate in a well-established platform to cater to arguably the largest untapped leisure boating market in the world. The 6th edition will bring luxury, super-luxury boats and designer yachts that have never been seen on the Indian shores.
As MIBS continues to highlight India’s evolving leisure boating sector the show continues to see regular exhibitors as well as new players from the emerging market.
The MIBS 2012, in addition of receiving official backing and sanction from the Government of Maharashtra, Indian Coast Guard, Yachting Association of India, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), and the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation, received the support from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2011.
In their efforts to promote the boating industry in India, CII and Mumbai Boat show Pvt. Ltd. Have invited speakers from India and around the world to chart a way forward for the industry at the CII International Boating Conference titled ‘Navigating Forward,’ to be held on the 24th February, Bandra-Kurla Complex.
The CII’s international Boating Conference at the MIBS 2012 will also be supported by the MTDC, Mumbai Yacht Club and Yachting Association of India and will cover a wide range of interest to stakeholders in the industry and leading industry players will participate and share their thoughts and ideas in exclusive interactive roundtable sessions.
Despite the lack of a proper boating culture in India, Spenta Multimedia took the initiative of creating a leisure boating trend in India. The organisation which acquired the Mumbai Boat Show Pvt. Ltd. has been making the prestigious event more and more significant over the year. “The sixth edition of the Mumbai International Boat Show is a reflection of the times. The renewed interest in developing infrastructure, especially in Mumbai, has resulted in an increase in participation and interest in the show. This year, we have far more brands, with the entire industry now on board. The CII Boating Conference on the occasion of the Mumbai International Boat show 2012 is more purposeful and result oriented with an active participation of government agencies. This year, the state of Gujarat is participating with a clear mandate of developing a holistic plan of tourism on water. All in all, it promises to be an exciting event.” Says Maneck Davar, Chairman of the Mumbai Boat Show.
