39th Cannes Yachting Festival draws to a close with record numbers

Cannes Yachting Festival officially drew to a close last Sunday, 11th September, having welcomed a record number of 630 vessels this year.

Among the 630 boats were more than 191 new models, more than any other show according to the festival’s organisers. In a statement, they said this “cemented its position as the leader in innovation and product launches.”

Over 51,000 people visited the two ports of Cannes Yachting Festival over the six day event. Exhibitors reported a high number of international visitors this year, with many becoming new customers, and over 50% of sales took place over the festival’s final weekend.

Organisers said that this year Cannes Yachting Festival “reaffirmed its status as the number one boat show internationally for multihulls”,this year with the world’s largest number of catamarans on display at a boat show.

Another first for the festival was a land marina, created at the entrance to the Quai Max Laubeuf to allow an increased number of boats to be displayed in that particular area.

2016 also marked the tenth anniversary of the Brokerage & Charter Area at the Cannes Yachting Festival, and according to organisers, “Exhibitors remarked once again that they were impressed with the quality of visitors who made the trip over to the area and the deals generated.”
