Yachting Pages has put several of the leading safety cases (and other associated products) to the test. The objective: to ascertain how each product performs and determine which one is best equipped to safely contain a lithium battery-induced fire.
Heesen Yachts has announced the delivery of YN 17755, formerly known as Project Alida. Her new owner has named the yacht Laurentia.
Laurentia combines efficiency, performance and style in a design package of 740GT, with elegant yet muscular clean lines by Omega Architects.
During the sea trials, which were held in the North Sea at the beginning of August, Laurentia beat her contractual speed requirements and reached 16.6 knots. According to Heesen, the vessel proved to be highly agile, responding to steering commands immediately.
Laurentia uses large rudders in conjunction with a powerful steering unit to achieve a highly responsive vessel. The high pitch of the propellers also aids the responsiveness, making navigating during strong winds and tougher conditions less troublesome.
Laurentia’s owner appointed Ramon Alonso at RADYCA, a Miami-based design firm, to create an interior design that promotes luxury, relaxation and entertainment throughout the yacht.
Other projects currently being undertaken at the Dutch shipyard include Project Antares, which it has recently been revealed will soon have her hull and superstructure joined. The yacht has now entered the outfitting phase and will be complete in Novenmber 2018.
