In the realm of maritime luxury, the quest to offer yacht charter guests the perfect night's sleep has become an art form, one which luxury bed and linen supplier, CC Design, has fully committed to.
Following construction and testing, Royal Huisman has moved its 56m sailing yacht Aquarius from its facility in Vollenhove to deeper waters, where she will be launched and christened.
Sold in December 2014 to an American couple for Bucket regatta racing as well as family world cruising, the ketch-rigged sailing yacht formerly known as Project RH399 has two carbon masts built by Rondal and standing rigging scaled to an air draft to maximise her sail area. Her sails themselves are from Doyle Sails New Zealand.
Royal Huisman’s long-term partners, Dykstra Naval Architects worked on the sail yacht’s naval architecture, with interiors by designer Mark Whiteley, which called for a “relaxed home afloat” for family and friends.
As such, she is appointed with a split-level master cabin with private deckhouse and cockpit, as well as a large-deck saloon, three en-suite guest cabins, a media room and a fully equipped superyacht gym, complete with optional Pullman bed fitted for additional accommodation. She will also have numerous water toys on board, which include a Laser, kayaks, windsurfers and bicycles and a 6.2m jet-drive tender.
Speaking earlier this year, Whiteley explained that her interiors would be classic to complement her exterior styling with its dark-blue hull and oval portholes. Interior décor includes raised and fielded white-painted panelling, trimmed with fine-varnished timber throughout.
Notable features aboard include a skylight around her mizzen mast to flood the owner’s cabin with light, a mid-deck lounge with sun canopy and large three-metre side-boarding platform. Her twin helms will be connected to a large, shaded main cockpit, which adjoins to an even larger glass-rimmed deck saloon.
Following delivery, it’s believed that Aquarius and her new owners are set to head to the Windward and Leeward Islands for her maiden cruise.
Godfrey Cray, project manager at Royal Huisman relayed a message on behalf of the owner to the build and shipyard management team and friends in attendance at the ceremony. He said, “I chose to build my boat at Royal Huisman because of the quality of your work, your attention to detail and the pried that all of you have in what you do.”
