72m Tankoa superyacht Solo filmed undergoing sea trials

Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts has revealed footage of its recently launched 72-metre (236-foot) superyacht S701 Solo undergoing sea trials.

Check it out the clip on Instagram.

The yard described the sea trials, which saw Solo reach a top speed of 17 knots, as a “total success”. She also hit speeds of 10.3 knots at 900rpm and has a total fuel consumption of 170 litres per hour.

Solo, almost a decade in production, started out as a sister ship to the 69-metre (226-feet) Suerte, which was launched in 2015. While she is reminiscent of Suerte, Solo is three metres longer and has a larger volume at over 1,600GT.

Solo was designed inside and out by Francesco Paszkowski. Designed with charter in mind, she boasts a large beach club and winter garden, glass cut-outs in the bulwarks, a fully private owner’s deck, a helipad on the foredeck, a six-metre transverse swimming pool on the main deck aft and an oversized panoramic saloon on the upper deck.

Michel Karsenti, sales director at Tankoa, commented upon Solo’s launch, “As our largest build and third launch after Suerte and 50-metre Vertige, Solo represents a significant milestone for the shipyard and its future.”

Much like Suerte, Solo is powered by twin 2,480hp Caterpillar 3516B diesel engines. She also features a 162,000-litre fuel capacity and is estimated to feature a range of 6,000 nautical miles (if cruising at 12.5 knots).

Solo is expected to make her public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September. She will be delivered to her owners in November.
