Amels commences construction on first Limited Editions 206 superyacht

Dutch yard Amels has continued the expansion of its Limited Editions collection after starting construction work on the 62.4-metre (205-foot) Limited Editions 206.

Based on the platform of the Limited Editions 199, the 206 boasts exterior styling by British designer Tim Heywood and interior design by Laura Sessa. She is due to be delivered in early 2020.

The Amels Limited Editions 206 is longer than the 199, however, and the extra 2.4 metres have been used to extend the bathing platform, which now measures 29 metres square.

Other areas of the yacht have also undergone elongation; the aft deck has been made bigger with the beach club now spanning a total area of 35 square metres, while the large sundeck has been stretched to 23 metres long and comes equipped with sunpads aft and a hexagonal spa pool forward.

Accommodation is for up to 12 guests across six cabins, including two VIP suites on the bridge deck and main-deck owner’s cabin complete with port and starboard folding balconies.

Standout features from the Limited Editions 199 have been retained, with the large circular portholes and gull wing doors that provide access to the foredeck tender garage. The 206 will have a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots.

“The boat is full of details, little surprises, little differences,” said exterior designer Tim Heywood. “Aft of the wing station, the form of the boat shoots up to the deck above and then I changed the tumblehome from in to out – from positive to negative – and it makes such an interesting form.”
