Andy Waugh set to unveil ‘ready-to-build’ 111m superyacht at MYS

British design studio Andy Waugh Yacht Design, is ready to unveil its new ‘ready-to-build’ 111-metre superyacht design together with German yacht builder Nobiskrug, at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show. 

Built of advanced steel and carbon-fibre construction techniques developed by Nobiskrug, and using advanced naval architecture, M/Y Ascendance is described as a “sleek” and “highly efficient” superyacht; capabilities that rest on her “slender, low volume hull”. 

She has been designed to be around 25% lighter than alternative yachts of her size, with major bulkheads fabricated in steel, and upper structures built almost entirely in carbon, greatly improving stability and passenger comfort.

The proposed power system for Ascendance is a hybrid, bio-diesel/electric configuration, which has been developed to optimise the efficiency of the vessel while reducing vibration and noise. 

The design company describes the exterior spaces of Ascendance to be “generally versatile and open for personalisation”, including “several unique and interesting built-in elements”. These include a helipad forward on the owner’s deck, which expands and retracts to provide a regulation-landing zone without imposing on the vessel’s design. 

On the bridge deck, there is a sunken fire pit and curved bar for entertaining, while the glass-bottomed swimming pool provides the focal point of the main deck, with a dramatic waterfall feature as you board from the swim platform. Beneath this there is a cinema snug and spa.

The interior of Ascendance is the work of the recently founded Motor Yacht Design Company (MYDco), which has created expansive, optimised and opulent spaces to accommodate guests and facilitate crew working on board, with large pantries on each deck, and uncompromised communication between crew and guest areas.

The main deck saloon and upper deck dining areas are connected by a feature staircase and atrium, while on the lower deck aft there is a 180sqm gym and beach lounge, with tropical fish tank centrepiece and sculpted limestone floor.

Guests are accommodated across eight cabins set forward on the main deck, while the owner’s suite forward on the upper deck above has a dressing room, study and bedroom with 180-degree views forward from her angled windows. These not only reduce reflection, but also allow for improved views out during twilight hours.

Ascendance will be on display at the Y.CO stand at Monaco Yacht Show between 28^th September and 1^st October.
