Apple founder's superyacht Venus docks at Club de Mar-Mallorca

M/Y Venus, the 78m superyacht of Apple founder Steve Jobs, has recently arrived at the Club de Mar marina in Palma de Mallorca.

The yacht which measures 78m long and 12m wide, arrived last Monday afternoon, on the anniversary of its first visit to the island and is due to be docked in the marina until 13th July.

Just one year after it first arrived to Majorca, the yacht has once again chosen Club de Mar Mallorca to dock during a three week period at its facilities, staying a week longer than its two week stay in 2013, when it was berthed from 24th June to 7th July.

A visionary and key person in technology, Steve Jobs began helping to design Venus, named after the Greek-Roman goddess of love, in 2009 along with Phillipe Starck’s design company. Sadly, although he was believed to have put all his creativity into this project, he never saw the project finished.

Apparently, the boat's functionality was a priority for Steve Jobs, who used to rent yachts to spend his vacation with his family. Those who knew him say he would cut his vacation on board short because he thought they lacked functionality and that is why he had the idea of making a custom yacht for him.

Currently, Venus is considered as a symbol of modern times. In the cabin, seven 27 inch iMacs direct the navigation, the system control and the software that helps its functioning.

In addition to its sophisticated technological equipment, Jobs knew how to reflect his personal touch he had given to Apple's designs. The structure with sharp lines and a 12m long and 3m wide picture window on the deck have the unmistakable seal of the Californian genius. Jobs passed away on 5th October 2011, one year before the yacht was launched in the Koninklijke shipyards in Holland.
