Arranging yacht crew accommodation

As the Mediterranean season approaches and the yachting year begins, one of the most important aspects of securing a job on a superyacht is being in the right place at the right time. Crew houses are always popular choices for yacht crew, as it’s a chance to make friends and socialise while looking for a job, as well as being a stable base when doing any day work. But how do you know where the best places are and when are the best times?

Before you book your flight, Yachting Pages has put together a brief guide to the top locations for crew accommodation, to help make decisions a little easier.

Accommodation in Antibes

Antibes offers a wide selection of crew houses, but it’s also a very popular place with crew looking for work, so places can fill up pretty quickly if you’re not on the ball with booking.

February is usually the time when crew will start searching for accommodation, and there are a number of houses in Antibes which all offer part-dedicated housing for crew at the very least. Preparing for Palma de Mallorca

While Palma may offer less specialist crew houses, there are still plenty of job opportunities and accommodation options for crew, as the location becomes quite the yachting hot spot during the Med season.

Flat and house shares are particularly popular in Palma, so it’s an ideal location if you’re perhaps looking for more space and privacy than you might find in a crew house. Finding your feet in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale, like Antibes, is a popular choice of location for yacht crew, but job opportunities come later in the year, from September. Crew’s best chance for finding work is usually around the time of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show between October, November and December, as well as the following spring between March, April and May.

There are a variety of dedicated crew houses in Fort Lauderdale, as well as many hostels and apartments for rent, all aimed at crew. Get the list of crew accommodation in Fort Lauderdale here - https://www.yachting-pages.com/content/yacht-crew-houses-in-fort-lauderdale-guide.html

Setting up in St. Maarten/St. Martin

St. Maarten/St. Martin job opportunities are often much later in the year, between December and February, when many yachts will be in the Caribbean area. However, caution must be exercised around this area as dock walking can be considered illegal so for anyone new to the area, it’s best to speak to a crew agent before booking accommodation.

While St. Maarten/St. Martin doesn’t offer the same extensive number of crew houses as other locations, there are still a number of great, dedicated crew houses with everything you need.
