Australian boat shows moving forward

Plans are moving forward for a newly formatted Sydney Festival of Boating and Brisbane Boat Show, set for July and August. The two Boating Industry Association (BIA) of Australia-organised shows are set for 29th July to 1st August and 20th to 22nd August respectively.

An invitation to exhibit for the Festival of Boating will be delivered in mid-March, for what BIA describes as “a new look ‘COVID-Safe’ four-day show which supports industry and celebrates the boating lifestyle.”

While the traditional venues of ICC Sydney, Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay Marina will still be utilised, the International Convention Center exhibit space will be limited to the upper-level only, and additional temporary docks will again be added at Cockle Bay to accommodate on-water demand.

Rather than the traditional event deck featuring food court, live music, and interactive displays, a Festival of Boating Boulevard will connect ICC Sydney with the marina locations. Paddle, power and sail exhibits will be scattered along the boulevard showcasing the boating lifestyle to passing public.

Meanwhile, plans are proceeding to hold the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, run by Mulpha, from 20th to 23rd May while the Melbourne Boat Show, organised by the BIA of Victoria, will be held from 17th to 20th July and the Perth Boat Show run by Premiere Events from 17th 19th September.
