Italian shipyard Baglietto has won the Compasso D’Oro ADI 2016 design award for its 44m superyacht, Monokini.
Now in its 24th edition, the award is said to be the oldest and most influential international design award, pre-selected by a panel of experts including designers, historians and specialised journalists. The award ceremony took place in Milan at the Palazzo Isimbardi, in the presence of Luciano Galimberti, president of ADI (Association for Industrial Design) and a number of other authorities.
The award was accepted by Raffaella Daino, head of communications and marketing at Baglietto, alongside designers Francesco Paszkowski and Alberto Mancini, who were responsible for the exterior and interior of Monokini.
Raffaella commented, “We are very honoured and proud to receive the Compasso d’Oro award. Monokini reflects a new course for Baglietto and receiving such an important award demonstrates that we are on the right path.
“This reinforces our mission to always improve, with constant attention and commitment to the highest standards in quality, while maintaining the made-In-Italy craftsmanship and innovation that have always been part of the Baglietto tradition.”
An all-aluminium yacht from Baglietto’s Fast series, Monokini was launched in 2013. According to Baglietto, she features streamlined, sleek lines with an “elegant sophisticated style”. Her interior “draws inspiration from the rational yet sophisticated world of aviation design, providing a “comfortable and relaxing” atmosphere, similar to that found on large private jets.”
