Finnish yard Baltic Yachts has announced it is to build a new, custom-designed 44.6-metre (146-foot) lifting keel sloop. The bluewater cruising Baltic 146 will feature naval architecture and interior design by the Judel/Vrolijk & Co design studio.
Rolf Vrolijk, naval architect at Judel/Vrolijk & Co., commented, “This is a great opportunity to further develop the high performance, multi-role superyacht for which our design studio and Baltic Yachts have become renowned.”
Key features of the custom superyacht include twin rudders, with a lifting keel reducing the draft to just 3.4 metres. Performance-enhancing on-deck features include a solid bimini extending from the large deck saloon, and another separate Bimini over the twin steering positions.
Accommodation on board will be for eight guests in a double owner’s cabin, together with three double guest cabins. There will also be accommodation for seven crew in four aft cabins.
The yacht will also be equipped with a tender well on the foredeck, fold-over anchor system, a large stern lazarette, captive winches and 550hp main engine.
Sebastien Allebrodt of A2B Maritime Consultants will project manage the build on behalf of the owner. Production is due to begin on 11th February, 2019 for a mid-summer 2021 delivery.
Henry Hawkins, CEO of Baltic Yachts, added, “This will be the third largest yacht by volume built by Baltic and we are relishing the challenge of working on such an important yacht.”
