Baltic Yachts has announced its 34-metre (112-foot) custom sailing yacht, named Liara, has entered the final stages of construction. This follows on exactly a year after the Finnish yard offered a first construction update in March 2017.
Tommy Johansson, Baltic project manager, revealed that the deck equipment and synthetic Flexiteek deck are currently being fitted. The final tasks involve fitting the lifting telescopic keel prior to testing the high-pressure hydraulic power packs.
The yard confirmed the yacht will be delivered on schedule, with plans to cross the Atlantic in time for the Caribbean season and its premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
"The owner has his sights set on the 2019/20 winter regattas and some extensive cruising," the yard noted.
Skipper John Walker outlined that the owner intended to use the new build as a fast, easy-to-use, family cruising yacht, with infrequent activity on the race course.
Walker added, “Our objective has been very clear from the outset – to make the quickest boat we can with all the comforts of home. We have also focused on systems usability - we want to go from anchor down to full gear up as quickly as possible."
Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design Ltd is responsible for the yacht’s naval architecture and exterior styling, with British designer Adam Lay Studio leading the interior brief.
On-board accommodation is in place for up to eight guests across four cabins, including a full-beam owner’s cabin forward, a VIP and two twin cabins. Meanwhile the aft crew area is for up to five staff.
Announced back in September 2017, the yacht now has an expected launch date of early May, with delivery expected in June.
The yard’s 43.28 metre (142-foot) sailing yacht, Baltic 142 Custom, is also currently under construction, with a launch date scheduled for this year.
