Barcelona Crew, a leading crew agent based near OneOcean Port Vell, is celebrating the close of a busy Mediterranean season after revealing its participation in crew training aboard some of the world’s most luxurious superyachts.
Amongst the businesses key achievements for the season, Barcelona Crew announced that it trained stewards, stewardesses and sommeliers aboard a private 100m superyacht this June, ahead of its planned Mediterranean cruise.
Mayte Bruguera, founder of Barcelona Crew said, “This season, Barcelona Crew has worked with many important clients within the superyacht industry in order to establish, improve and maintain service standards in many areas aboard.
“Typically we are approached by a yacht agent, or sometimes the captain himself. Once we have established the client’s requirements, we will often go on board and meet with the interior manager or chief stewardess to make an analysis of their training needs, and the required areas of crew improvement. Afterward, we will work to present a bespoke training schedule to meet those needs.”
Working with superyacht crews around the world, Barcelona Crew will continue to recruit and train yacht crew in attitudes and social skills, buffet and fine dining service, beverages, housekeeping, laundry and floristry ahead of the winter season which sees many superyachts heading to the Caribbean.
Matye continued, “Every single client of Barcelona Crew is different and we love the diversity of our jobs, especially as, alongside our bespoke crew training packages, we are also able to provide bespoke hiring and training programmes to give the captain complete peace of mind in his crew for the upcoming season.
“In the long term, we believe that on board training is more effective as crew learn practical skills alongside their own colleagues, plus it is generally more cost effective. Whether it is training in a new skill or an advanced or refresher course, interior crew can develop their skills ahead of the season familiar with their roles and equipped to exceed owner and guest experiences, focused on their habits, preferences and needs.”
