Benetti launches its ninth Crystal 140 unit

Italian yard Benetti has launched its 42-metre (138-foot) BY009 superyacht in Viareggio. It’s the ninth Crystal 140 unit in the Class product line.

Announced in 2011, this nine-metre-wide superyacht is built from composite materials and is the flagship in the Classic category.

She offers plenty of space above and below deck for guests and owners, and “meets the needs of a diversified clientele”, according to Benetti.

The superyacht’s new owner stated, “The success of this project is a perfect example of everything Benetti represents as a brand worldwide, and it bears witness to the extraordinary quality of the products built by the shipyard. It will be a pleasure for me to navigate this yacht the world over, showing it off with pride.”

BY009 spans four decks, providing accommodation for 12 people in five cabins. In addition, there is a full-beam master suite forward on the main deck with a private bathroom and long windows allowing for light to flood the interior, and an incredible 180-degree view of the sea.

The main deck has been defined by Benetti as “the true heart of the yacht” due to its spacious living area which gracefully connects the interiors and exteriors through a sliding glass door.

The layout of the stern area has been carefully developed – the garage for the tender, Jet Ski and water toys has been moved forward and given a side entrance to allow for the entire stern to be devoted to a huge beach area, completely free of all equipment.

The same rational management of space also translates into large, welcoming guest cabins on the lower deck. The same deck also houses the crew, while the captain’s cabin is on the upper deck, next to the bridge.

The ninth hull comes equipped with two CAT C32 Acert engines which allows the BY009 to reach a maximum speed of 15.5 knots. At a cruising speed of 11 knots, she is estimated to boast a range of 4,000 nautical miles – making her an ideal yacht for long, relaxing ocean cruises.
