Camper & Nicholsons Marinas confirmed today that they agreed terms with Edinburgh Marina Granton Harbour Limited to design, commission, manage and operate the new Edinburgh Marina.
The marina will be the core of a £500-million (approx. €566 million) waterside quarter development in Edinburgh close to Edinburgh City Centre, branded by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas as “a gateway to explore Scotland’s renowned cruising area”.
With 40 years’ industry experience, Camper & Nicholsons Marinas provide specialist operational marina management to clients in over 25 countries worldwide. For Edinburgh, the marina will be a chance to compete for a major share of Scotland’s burgeoning £3.7-billion marine-tourism industry.
Indeed, Edinburgh Marina will be expanding the size of Scotland’s overall berth availability, consisting of 315 fully serviced berths providing 24/7 access to the sea, a state-of-the-art marina office, and fully serviced boatyard and dry-stack operation. It will be designed to surpass the Yacht Harbour Association’s 5 Gold Anchor rating.
Visitors to the marina will be able to enjoy great amenities, including secure parking with optional storage. Located immediately next to the Edinburgh Marina Spa and Conference Hotel, yacht owners will also benefit from on-board food, drink and concierge services and access to the hotel spa and gym.
Adjacent to the marina is a development of new lxury residences, which will give property owners the opportunity to reserve a marina berth when purchasing an apartment.
Edinburgh Marina is expected to attract boat owners and enthusiasts from around the world with the ability to accommodate the full-size range of yachts and cruisers.
Dan Hughes, Chief Operating Officer of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, said, “The new Edinburgh Marina is probably the most important new and exciting marina development in Europe in the last 25 years. We are delighted to have been chosen to design, manage and operate this new facility which will provide world class services to its customers”.
Kevin Fawcett, developer of Edinburgh Marina Holdings Ltd, added, “This announcement of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas is great news – I am very pleased to welcome them on board. I believe that their design and operational management skills and their commitment to customer service will help ensure the successful delivery of this exciting development for Edinburgh and Scotland”.
