Camper & Nicholsons Marinas unveil expansion of Port Louis Marina in Grenada

Camper & Nicholsons has announced that its highly anticipated berthing expansion is now complete.

The Grenada Tourism Authority met with the Port Louis Marina team to open the new pontoons at the marina and congratulate the marina on offering new marine berthing facilities to the Caribbean isles.

Ninety new berths were designed by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas ranging from 12m (39ft) to 22m (72ft) on two new piers. This expansion will give greater opportunity for a larger number of yacht visitors and longer lease berthing options in the marina.

Charlotte Bonin, Marina Manager at Port Louis Marina, said, “We have seen an increase of demand for seasonal and visiting yachts to Port Louis Marina, and the offer of the new berthing is to better facilitate charter yachts visiting the island of Grenada, and further support sailing events and regattas with more berthing solutions. We are delighted to open in time for the Caribbean season!”

The additional berths will help support the required space for many international events hosted at the marina, including, the RORC Transatlantic Race, World Arc, Oyster World Rally along with more regional boat and charter shows.

The new phase has been carefully designed to cater for CAT 2 hurricane wind speeds. Particular attention has been given to 16m (52ft) and 18m (59ft) long fingers on Pier E with four heavy duty mooring points per finger. Dual frequency supply (US and European) electrical sockets are being installed on a number of these new berths. Triple berths built into the design to cater for increasing demand of catamaran berths.

Patricia Maher, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, commented, “Grenada’s unspoiled grounds and safe surroundings have made the destination a hub for yacht stop-offs and extended cruises. After a bumper growth of 14% in yachting arrivals in 2018, we are pleased to maintain the momentum with 20,954 visitors visiting our shores year to date in 2019; we are thrilled to be amongst the world’s top boating spots.”
