Canados announces first sale since new ownership

Italian shipyard Canados has announces the first yacht sale since being sold to European client, Michel Karsenti.

Karsenti bought Canados at the beginning of February. As well as the announcement of a new owner, the shipyard will also be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. The newly sold yacht is the 27.5m Canados 90 open, and is due for delivery later this month.

Karsenti has built more than 12 yachts at Canados including those from his own brand, Oceanic Yachts. In addition to continuing production of Oceanic Yachts, Canados will also produce Oceanic’s fast expedition yachts, as well as a new range of its own models. The first Oceanic yacht project is currently under construction at Canados.

Speaking about the acquisition, Karsenti commented, “As you can imagine, we did not acquire an iconic shipyard as the result of a caprice. It’s been a long process and a well-thought out move. For now, we are busy taking the first steps renovating and updating the production facilities, as well as the two marinas that are part of the shipyard. We will soon introduce new products to the market. I also want to mention that our aim is to continue building ‘haute couture’ and not go for high production numbers.

“Year after year, visit after visit, Canados still has the same magical feeling, where strong maritime traditions are embedded in the DNA of the workers.”

Alongside an 18-month plan to revamp its yards entire infrastructure, Canados has opened its first factory office in Golfe Juan, France, offering more access to existing owners and clients.

Canados has also announced a new agreement with Venice studio, Cristiano Gatto Design, who will work on new projects with the in-house design team.

Speaking about the collaboration, Gatto commented, “Myself and the entire team are really proud, as we know from fact that anything is possible at Canados and every detail will always be produced in the best possible way. We experienced great collaboration with Canados in the past and I know that their interiors can only exceed both my team and clients’ expectations.”
