Cantiere delle Marche launches Darwin Class 102 explorer superyacht

Italian shipyard, Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has announced their third launch of 2015, with the Darwin Class explorer superyacht, Acala.

Constructed in steel and aluminium, and measuring in at 31.09m LOA, Acala will be officially presented to the industry at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) from 5th to 9th November.

Customised for a Central American client, she will have a lazarette that is equipped with nitrox compressor for diving, large doors in her salon that are able to open completely, and air conditioning throughout - even in her outdoor areas. It is thanks to the increased spaces of her swim platform that Acala can accommodate two tenders that are unusually large for a yacht of this size: A 20’ custom-build by McMullen and Wing and a second 16’ tender.

With naval architecture and exterior design by Hydro Tec, she accommodates her guests over her five-cabin layout with the master cabin forward.

Ennio Cecchini, co-founder of CDM with Vasco Buonpensiere said of Acala, “We come back to Fort Lauderdale after three years with an explorer yacht that is extraordinary under every point of view.

“In the shipyard we say that this is the smallest ever built 60 metres. We say this because of the many solutions that are not normally found on yachts of this size. Just look at the garage: It’s components and the organisation of space and stowage are enough to understand it.

“This boat will be an incredible success for the overseas markets, and the number of appointments already set for the most important American fair is a strong sign.”
