Castor Networks launches Castor Marine maritime VSAT service

Castor Networks, a leading satellite service provider and teleport operator, recently announced the launch of Castor Marine, a specialised maritime VSAT service serving superyachts, offshore and passenger vessels.

First founded in 2005, Castor Networks has rapidly expanded its VSAT customer base within Europe and Africa. Edwin Cras, managing director of Castor Networks commented, “We see a tremendous opportunity in the maritime market, both coming from new VSAT installations as well as competing with suppliers on existing VSAT installations.”

Ivo Veldkamp, founder of Castor Networks added, “The maritime service provider industry is in a high level of consolidation phase and most acquisitions are focused on achieving cost synergies.

“Unfortunately for maritime customers, a bigger supplier and reduced competition does not necessarily result in a better customer service or improved customer support. This is a major opportunity for an agile end-to-end maritime connectivity service provider to deliver customer centric and cost effective services with great flexibility and support.”

Castor Marine delivers connectivity services through its global Ku and C-Band coverage, combined with L-Band and value-added services, such as VSAT telephony, crew calling, crew internet and IT services on board. Castor Marine has established a global partner network and provides local support and spares in in 14 ports worldwide.

Castor Marine will be present at the Palma Superyacht Show, which is taking place between 28th April and 2nd May 2016, and will also exhibit at the Posidonia International Shipping Exhibition, taking place between 6th and 10th May.
