Celebrities, cocktails and racing combine for a weekend of Formula 1 action

Israeli model Bar Refaeli was one of the celebrity guests joining Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa during a weekend of Formula 1 entertainment at Marina Port Vell. The mix of live music, DJ’s, cocktails, fast cars, tapas and street fun mixed in with yachts, owners, guest and crew created, according to Marina Port Vell, an amazing party atmosphere.

Berths were full with over 60 additional yachts booked at the marina over the weekend to take advantage of the F1 Grand Prix; many hosting the F1 teams between hectic race schedules.

The weekend kicked off on Thursday with the Martini Racing Terrazza, located between Sota Muralla and Spanish Quay, showcasing tapas by tapas chef, Albert Adrià, accompanied by exclusive new Martini cocktail creations.

Friday welcomed almost 100 guests, including superyacht owners and captains, at OneOcean Club for the annual Yacht Rendezvous gala dinner by the International Seakeepers Society.  Throughout the weekend there were many supercars gracing the docks including a couple of McLaren 360S, a Ferrari, Maserati’s and an AMG A45 Mercedes.

Brian O’Sullivan, owner of 41-metre yacht Komokwa commented, “Marina Port Vell and the new OneOcean Club are well set up to take on major events like the F1. I had a great time over the weekend and would love to come back again next year to start the summer season.”

Jamie Whitehead, captain of 50-metre motor yacht Septimus added, “There was such a wonderful atmosphere at the gala dinner. It’s unusual to have such a fine-dining experience within a marina, so close to the yachts,”

The event continued on Sunday at OneOcean Club as more than 300 members, guests and F1 teams gathered to enjoy music by DJs, tapas and cocktails as the sun set over the city.
