Christensen launches pair of 50m superyachts

Christensen celebrated the launch of two new 50m superyachts last week, a first for the yacht builder.

Having successfully launched high-volume superyacht Silver Lining on 20th June, Chasseur was then launched five days later. Christensen also deployed its “revolutionary” mini dry-dock system, which was designed and built in-house and involves attaching large FRP boxes to the side of a custom-built steel trailer. In a statement, the yard said that the new system “allows extremely safe launches even when the nearby Columbia River is at low water.”

According to Christensen, Silver Lining is a large-volume non-MCA yacht with a high-gloss black walnut interior. Chasseur is an MCA-class yacht with a light, modern interior featuring bleached sycamore with rosewood accents and spectacular semi-precious stonework.

Christensen president Jim Gilbert commented, “I really have to tip my hat to our boat builders, who worked long hours – some of them more than a month straight without break – to enable us to keep to a tight launch schedule with an equally demanding delivery timeline to follow.

“It’s just another example of the new attitude at Christensen of getting the job done on time and on budget no matter what the challenge.”

Both vessels are currently docked in the yard’s marina, preparing to embark on a series of river and sea trials before being delivered to their owners in July. Both yachts will then cruise to Fort Lauderdale, where they will be on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November.
