Cogs4Cancer day one: Ancona to Forli

Stage one sponsored by: CRN
Kilometers ridden: 168km
Kilometers to go: 682km

Sunday 5th October marked the first day of the second superyacht charity cycle ride, Cogs4Cancer. The seventeen cyclists, including Yachting Pages’ MD Steve Crowe, began at 8:00am amidst a supportive crowd of friends and colleagues at the CRN shipyard, Ancona.

Steve Crowe, managing director of Yachting Pages said, “Thank you so much to Roberta Sabatini, Matteo Belardinelli and Ferdinando Pilli from CRN who really embraced the spirit of C4C. What a fantastic start to the ride!”

Stage one of the 850km route took the cyclists through Pesaro, Rimini, and Forlimpopoli, before finishing their first 168km at 5.00pm in Forli.

Cycling through Rimini, often referred to as 'the Italian seaside destination', the Cogs4Cancer riders admired kilometers of sandy beaches and seaside promenades, all from the comfort of their bike saddles, before enjoying a hearty swordfish steak lunch from the support team at Gourmet Deliveries.

The afternoon cycle took the riders a further 60km to the first day’s finish line in Forli. Home to historic architecture, including the famous abbey Basilica of San Mercuriale, the city will be home to the riders for one night before setting off on stage two of their 149km journey to Empoli.

Currently at €181,238 of their €200,000 target, the riders have a further 682km to cover over the next five days.
