Columbus Yachts unveils 80m six-deck superyacht

Columbus Yachts has unveiled a new full displacement 80m superyacht, to be delivered to her owner in 2018.

The large hexa-deck yacht will be the first in a range that will develop into even larger sizes.

Francesco Carbone, general manager at Columbus Yachts claimed that Columbus has adopted a new approach to manufacturing the craft by “Working in parallel and not in series”.

The steel hull is currently under construction at the Palumbo Group’s Naples shipyard, and will be completed by the end of June 2017. The hull will be moved by barge from Naples to the sister facility in Ancona, where it will be joined to the pre-fabricated aluminium superstructure. Building the yacht in two sections concurrently is expected to shorten the delivery time by 32 weeks, according to the builder.

Designed by Guida Design in conjunction with Columbus Yachts, the yacht’s interior adopts a layout devoted to comfort and convenience at sea. In addition to two garages for an additional tender and three jet-skis, amenities include a sauna, gym and cinema room.

With two lateral tender garages aft, access is made more convenient by a boarding platform with direct access to the lobby and a circular glass-walled lift that connects the five main decks.

The sun deck is one of the most distinctive spaces on board, surrounded by panoramic views and featuring a 7m pool and hydro-massage tub. The upper deck is dedicated to the owners’ suite and framed by unbroken views of the horizon. Six double guest suites are located in the forward section of the main deck, whilst a seventh cabin on the lower deck can be used for last minute guests.

Generously sized quarters for 19 crew fill the forward section. Crew can relax in the large galley and exclusive gym, and are connected to all other decks by a convenient service lift.

The superyacht is powered by twin MTU engines, delivering a total of 3044HP and propelling the 2015GT yacht to a cruising speed of 12kn for 6,000nm.
