Compositeworks has announced that it will take over the Atlantic Refit Center in La Rochelle, gaining exclusive access to the larger of its two dry docks, which measures 176m in length.
With access to this dry dock, some of the world’s largest superyachts could be refitted at the facility, which is based on France’s west coast. Plans for the new site include adding a 35m high hangar, due to be completed in September 2018, which will completely cover the dry dock.
Notable refit projects already completed at the Atlantic Refit Center facility in La Rochelle include the conversion of 71m polar explorer yacht, Enigma XK.
Ben Mennem, CEO of Compositeworks commented, “With experience of managing projects outside of our historic La Ciotat base now firmly under our belt, we strongly believe we can bring our exceptional service and technical know-how to La Rochelle, who over the past ten years have already developed an excellent reputation for superyacht conversions and paintwork.”
The company’s site director, Stéphane Marcelli announced that Compositeworks has already started to work with local contractors. The refit specialist also added that it is planning to eventually expand its Marseille facility, to allow for several new dry docks which will measure up to 320m in length.
