Construction of new Dominator Ilumen progresses

The team at Dominator have announced that the Ilumen 26, which was originally conceived and presented as a 3D model last year, is now well into construction. The Dominator Ilumen has been lengthened by two metres since her original conception, and will now be presented as the Ilumen 28.

She is part of the new Ilumen series, comprised of 28, 32 and 36 metre models, which have all been designed by AM Yacht Design in collaboration with the engineering team of Naval Head.

The Ilumen 28’s interior, designed by Alberto Mancini of AM Yacht Design, has been outfitted in a range of luxurious materials such as backlit white onyx, ebony and zebrano wood, matt oak, silk and soft nubuck leather.

She features the Dominator High Performance Hull (HPH) – a hard-chine hull with a blade bulbous bow – designed to produce superior resistance values in all the semi-displacement and semi-planing phases. The HPH hull has also been designed to operate in symphony with the Fortjes Pods produced by gearbox development and production specialists, Reintjes.

Federico Brumat of Dominator’s technical office, speaks of the Ilumen 28, “A Dominator yacht would not carry the badge if it didn’t represent the very finest in engineering and design, so following enthusiastic feedback from the owner of the last yacht delivered, we are going to adopt a clever double system of yacht stabilisation made of a gyro and interceptors. Many yachts foresee zero speed fins; to avoid adding resistance due to appendages we went for a huge gyro stabiliser from Seakeeper, capable of a reduction of 80% of the uncontrolled roll angle up to 14 degrees.”
