Dutch yard Heesen Yachts has revealed that construction on the 56.7-metre (186-foot) superyacht Project Akira will begin on speculation later this year.
The yacht, which was first unveiled at Monaco Yacht Show in 2019, will begin construction at Heesen’s facility in Oss and will be ready for delivery in 2024.
Project Akira is the first model in Heesen’s 5700 Aluminium class and features exterior design penned by Omega Architects and interior design by Harrison Eidsgaard.
Arthur Brouwer, Heesen CEO, said, “We see great potential for this new model. Akira is the only 57-metre, all-aluminium fast motor yacht with a Northern European pedigree available for delivery in spring 2024. The 57-metre Aluminium design represents the perfect counterpoint to our successful 55-metre Steel Class and is ideal for those clients who seek speed, efficiency and volume.”
Extensive structural and decorative glass is a particular focus of Project Akira’s exterior aesthetic, designed to heighten the indoor-outdoor connection of the yacht.
Ben Harrison, co-founder of Harrison Eidsgaard, said, “The whole premise of the design is about the view – indoor-outdoor living is the primary driver.”
Frank Laupman, of Omega Architects, noted, “We added a touch of aggression by way of sharp angles. The overall effect is the look of a leaping animal.”
Accommodation is for up to 12 guests across six cabins and includes a light and spacious 63-square-metre owner’s apartment located forward on the main deck and four double en-suite cabins laid out down below. There is also a special VIP cabin up on the bridge deck.
Power will come via a pair of MTU 16V 4000 M65L engines for a top speed of 22 knots.
