Italian yard Baglietto has begun construction on its new 54-metre (177-foot) superyacht Project 231.
The yard released a number of photos online announcing the arrival of the hull at its facility in La Spezia. The yard first revealed renderings of the yacht in January 2018, and has confirmed a launch date of 2020.
The rendering confirmed Project 231 will be a tri-deck motor yacht with large expanses of glass in the superstructure and circular portholes towards the bow, suggesting a bright interior. It is also believed she will feature a foldout superyacht balcony around the saloon as well as a swimming pool situated forward.
Her owners bought the superyacht in summer 2017 and gave the yard a very specific brief in terms of comfort and style. However, the identity of the designers is still unknown, but the yard previously explained the project will feature a new hull form with the naval architecture having been developed in-house.
It has been confirmed the displacement yacht will be built from an aluminium hull and superstructure to Lloyd’s Registry standards. Her vital statistics include a 10.4-metre beam and a maximum draught of 2.6 metres.
CEO of Baglietto, Michele Gavino, previously said: “I am very proud of this new build — it rewards the hard work the shipyard has been doing during the last year. We have made a great effort in research and development of a new product range and this special yacht, based on a brand-new platform both in terms of engineering and styling, confirms we are following the right directions.”
The engine installation has still not been announced by Baglietto, but it is understood that this new displacement yacht will be capable of a maximum cruising range of 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. The total number of guest and crew cabins is still undisclosed.
