In the realm of maritime luxury, the quest to offer yacht charter guests the perfect night's sleep has become an art form, one which luxury bed and linen supplier, CC Design, has fully committed to.
Damen, in cooperation with Dutch luxury yacht builder Amels, has announced the sale of a new 69-metre yacht support vessel, currently under construction at the Damen shipyard in Gorinchem, Netherlands.
The Sea Axe 6911 is the first in the Damen Yacht Support range to feature what the brand names to be the ultimate technical area for superyacht helicopter operations, with a fully enclosed hangar in place beneath the LY3/MCA certified helideck.
Still currently under construction, the new vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2016, marking the fifth purpose-built yacht support vessel to be delivered since Damen and Amels introduced the concept to the superyacht market in 2009.
Mark Vermeulen, product director of the Yacht Support team at Damen said that the new project builds on the experience gained from previous deliveries, ‘6711 and ‘Garçon’, with input from the new client. He explained, “In fact, the owner’s team came to us with a lot of client-specific customisations for what was then our 67-metre platform.
“They put a lot of thought into how the owner would like to operate the Yacht Support vessel in combination with the mother yacht. This has created new possibilities within the design, resulting in an extremely high-end yachting experience. Now we’ve put a lot of that client feedback into the updated design – the Sea Axe 6911.”
As well as the helicopter hangar, the extended 69-metre platform includes a dedicated helicopter workshop below deck, a well-equipped dive centre, 250 square metres of deck space for tenders and toys, and 110 square metres of below deck storage.
Weighing in at approximately 1,200GT the vessel is large enough to accommodate 22 crew and staff while sailing at 20 knots.
The Damen/Amels working cooperation has also this week announced their latest addition to the Sea Axe range, the Sea Axe 8517, which at 3,500GT is three times larger than the next model in the range.
This vessel offers 550 square metres of deck space, accommodating tenders, powerboats and submersibles, plus it has a two-level garage for toys, sports cars, quads, motorcycles and more. Like the 6911, she will feature a helicopter hangar and dive centre, and will also offer a 90 square metre VIP lounge and bar aft of the wheelhouse.
The Sea Axe 8517 is scheduled for delivery in June 2016.
