Delta Marine launches 53.4m superyacht MLR

US yard Delta Marine has launched the 53.4-metre (175-foot) superyacht MLR, its first launch of 2019.

Previously known as Project 174046, MLR’s interior and exterior styling comes from Jonathan Quinn Barnett (JQB), while the naval architecture has been implemented by Delta Marine’s in-house team.

Few details have been revealed as yet, but it is known that the semi-displacement yacht features an aluminium hull and lightweight composite superstructure. Accommodation on board is for up to 12 guests across six cabins and 12 crew members, while power comes from twin 3,860hp MTU diesel engines.

Discussing MLR when construction was first announced in November 2016, Delta’s chief naval architect Jay Milner said, “Jonathan Barnett’s exterior styling gives a fresh and forward look to a proven hull design. Not only does the design manage to maintain its sleek shape in profile and elevations, it provides superior glazing dimensions for unobstructed sightlines — something quite unique when considering the interior volume and open deck viewing spaces with windbreaks.”
