In the realm of maritime luxury, the quest to offer yacht charter guests the perfect night's sleep has become an art form, one which luxury bed and linen supplier, CC Design, has fully committed to.
Derecktor of Florida, a leading shipyard within the superyacht industry, is investing $1 million in the upgrade of equipment following its strongest summer of business in a decade.
Investing in a new lift from Cimolai Technology with a capacity of 200 tonnes, the company will replace two of their older and smaller lifts currently in use. The custom-designed equipment, expected for delivery in October, will operate on the shipyard’s existing piers and is intended to provide cost-effective lifting options for vessels up to 100 feet in length.
According to Derecktor, the Cimolai lift was chosen because of a combination of favourable cost and technical superiority over its competitors. The new equipment is set to complement the yard’s $3.5 million lift installed in 2012 which still remains the largest capacity mobile hoist in use in the US yachting market.
When speaking to publication Sun Sentinel, James Brewer, director of business development at the shipyard said, “The investment comes as business during the often slow summer months, surges to its highest level since the recession ended. We hope for a banner year.
“Over the decades, Derecktor's business has changed. Instead of a mix of sailboats and powerboats, the yard now services almost all powerboats. And rather than doing mostly month-long refits on large yachts for $500,000 to $1 million each, business since the recession also includes many week-long repairs that run $300,000 to $400,000 per job.”
