An elderly sailor has supposedly fallen overboard a yacht into the waters off Central Queensland, the remote reef is soon to be searched by police divers.
It was made apparent after a companion noticed that the 71-year old had disappeared from the 15-meter (49-foot) vessel on Saturday afternoon.
He raised the alarm, causing an aerial search of remote Cato Reef of Yeppoon, but as yet there’s been no sign of the sailor.
A police vessel left for Cato Reef on Sunday but wasn’t likely to reach the reef until Monday.
The 23-year old man that put out the alert has remained in touch with the police.
The men, presumed to be from New South Wales, had left Scarborough, just north of Brisbane, on Tuesday last week.
