Dubois Naval Architects has designed a new 35m Super Stern sailing yacht with a unique beach club design that rivals those aboard many motor yachts.

Set to the stern, and giving the vessel its project name, the concept features a distinctive convertible ‘super stern’ platform that opens a full 180-degrees in order to create a large area for relaxing. This sheltered platform gives the master suite private and direct access to the water, and creates a secondary deck right on the waters edge.

Beneath the folding platform, project Super Stern features a garage for a 3.3m tender, the crane for which is hidden in the yacht’s boom.

The Dubois concept accommodates a full beam owner’s cabin and two twin guest cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms. There is also accommodation for three crew members aboard.

Designed to be an astute competitor on the superyacht regatta circuit, the vessel is equipped with a sail wardrobe that features a flattop mainsail, blade, code and bowsprit-set gennaker. Her high-tech hull is designed to be built in carbon fibre with a structural Nomex core and vaccum-infused epoxy. She will be equipped with a twin-rudder arrangement with lifting keel for shallow water cruising.

Set to launch in 2017, the Super Stern has been designed for a current Dubois client, who, according to the design studio, is an experienced owner and superyacht regatta participant. The brief was presented for a sailing yacht that is a fast competitor on the racecourse, while not compromising on luxury comfort for family-oriented, bluewater cruising.

According to Dubois, the build yard and interior design team for the project are still yet to be decided on.
