Feadship’s first ice-classed superyacht on course to turn heads

Feadship has released the first official image of secretive Project 701 leaving the construction shed at the shipyard’s Aalsmeer facility in the Netherlands.

The custom 51-metre (167-foot) vessel is Feadship’s first superyacht built to ice-class notation, meaning she is capable of withstanding the often-gruelling conditions found in Arctic and Antarctic waters.

Feadship’s in-house designer Studio De Voogt has created her elegant exterior lines, while interiors (including accommodation for up to a dozen guests) are courtesy of Bannenberg and Rowell Design. Power aboard Project 701 will be drawn from twin Caterpillar C32 engines, and she’s expected to be able to reach 14.5 knots with a range of 4,500 nautical miles.

Project 701’s name will be confirmed at a special ceremony to be held in the coming months.
