This morning, Monday 10th April at 4:30am (2:30BST), a fire broke out in a marina in the Aegean province of Muğla, as reported by the Hurriyet Daily.
The marina was engulfed in flames, and three yachts were destroyed in the blaze: White Layd, Cartano and Passion.
According to fire crew officials, one man, 63 year-old Ekrem Gökçe, was killed in the fire on board the Cartano yacht. Another man, Türker Demir, was injured on board the same yacht and taken to hospital.
Coastguard teams embarked on a three-hour mission to extinguish the flames from the sea, while other emergency services took measures to prevent the fire spreading to other vessels.
The cause of the blaze is still being investigated, but an Irish citizen, Clark Billy, has been detained by the gendarmerie over the suspicion that he set the marina on fire.
