Front Street Shipyard has new 485 ton hoist

Now Front Street Shipyard is lifting some really heavy yachts with their new 485-ton hoist! With this piece of equipment they have been able to take on some major superyacht refits. One of the first superyachts beginning work this fall is ‘Magic’, a 130-foot tri-deck m/y.

There working with Setzer Yacht Architects, Magic's original design team, to complete the redesign. Some of the most significant modifications will be to the fly bridge where the deck layout will be re-configured to accommodate additional seating, a forward 5-person spa, an outdoor cinema, re-designed arch, mast, and hardtop structures, and an added day head.

Now that they’ve got the new lift, they need to get a new building big enough to fit it inside. So Front street shipyard has been working with the Belfast City Council on getting final approval for their new facility. When they finish with the approval process, they'll begin construction next spring.

Front Street Shipyard received a visit from Maine gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler only two days after he announced his candidacy. He had a great tour of the yard and was impressed by some of the beautiful yachts undergoing work inside the shop this fall.
