George Lucian reveals unique 100m concept ‘Origami’

The Monaco-based artist and yacht designer George Lucian has revealed his latest concept project, a 100m sailing yacht inspired by oriental maritime tradition and the Japanese craft of folding paper.

Named ‘Project Origami’, the sailing yacht strikes with a seemingly light “paper-weight” structure, contrasting the boat’s considerable size. The yacht features various convertible elements, such as one portside section of the hull folding out to create a touch-and-go helipad which, when deployed, allows for beautiful sea views through a glass wall when the yacht is at anchor or in calm seas.

The main mast, rising from the middle of a beam-wide glass-sided swimming pool culminates in a lookout point, which is being aptly named the “crow’s nest”. The yacht boasts a huge middle deck with Jacuzzi and lounging areas, as well as an indoor drive-in garage for tenders and a speedboat placed towards the bow and lifted by crane.

In February this year, George Lucian presented his superyacht airship carrier concept, Dare to Dream, which received positive feedback from industry experts.
