Globe Regal Yachting has released first details of its latest superyacht concept, a 70-metre (230-foot) Ice-Class Explorer named Project Ida Pfeiffer.
Developed in collaboration with Gill Schmid Designs and Dörries Yachts, the concept takes its name from Austrian explorer and author Ida Pfeiffer.
The 70-metre vessel is built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and would be driven by diesel-electric propulsion that would allow her to cover in excess of 7,000 miles in fully stabilised comfort. According to the yard, she would be capable of cruising in some of the coldest waters on the planet.
As a fully equipped explorer, Ida Pfeiffer would be able to carry a wide range of toys and tenders, including two 14-metre tenders, two rescue boats, one dive-support vessel, Jet Skis and a Triton submarine.
In addition, she would also be equipped to house an H135 helicopter with hangar, an Icon waterplane and up to two cars in her garage. To ensure easy manoeuvrability, she would feature a side-launching garage and large A-frame crane.
On-board accommodation would be for up to 14 guests across an owner’s suite and five VIP cabins, while the crew quarters would allow for up to 16 staff.
Full details are expected in the coming months.
