Hamble Yacht Services transforms 25m yacht in disrepair

British shipyard Hamble Yacht Services’ Refit & Repair service has completed the refit of a 15-year old motor yacht in disrepair.

Measuring 25m, the owner of Techneme yacht 82, Beyond, wanted to update her with an extensive refit in order to become a modern, luxurious superyacht. As a result of this decision, the owner customised every inch of Beyond to suit his needs, and was able to be fully involved throughout the project.

A highly notable addition to Beyond’s features was a custom bimini, but Ainslie Hunt, the project manager for Beyond, explained that this turned out to be one of the project’s biggest challenges.

“Initially we were going to erect a canvas bimini, but we ended up creating a fully customised moulded hardtop bimini, complete with smart and modern seating for the flybridge. It really is one of a kind and creates real impact to the exterior look of the yacht.”

Much of the interior of Beyond has remained unchanged, and re-sprayed with a high gloss white finish. A range of quirky 1970’s accessories were then added including bold patterned carpets, cushions and wall panels, and Gerald Laing pop art.

According to Hamble’s refit & repair yard, “No expense has been spared on making sure the yacht has the best and most advanced systems on board.” These systems include two Seakeeper stabilisers and the latest Raymarine electronics package.

Her exterior was then refurbished and re-sprayed metallic silver. Malcolm Hearnden, general manager at Hamble Yacht Services Refit & Repair commented, “When we sprayed everything white, we didn’t expect to then see colourful trimmings, fabrics and colours come into play, but they all look fantastic.”

Beyond is now undergoing sea trials, and will be shipped to the Med in the summer.
