Heesen reveals first glimpse of M/Y Home’s interior

Heesen Yachts has revealed interior images of its 49.8m hybrid yacht Home, ahead of her debut appearance at the 2017 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show next month.

Referred to using the codename Project Nova during construction, Home was  sold to her new owner in July 2016. According to the Dutch shipyard, she is the owner’s first Heesen yacht, drawn to the design by its shallow 2.1m draught, making her well suited to cruising the Bahamas.

Thom Conboy from Heesen Yachts USA said, "The client was attracted to this project for several reasons, including its unique and modern exterior, as well as its modern, high-tech interior design."

Once sold, the client brought in Italian designer Cristiano Gatto. Gatto confirmed the owner wanted to personalise the interior, and so worked closely with his team following a strict colour palette of white, grey, silver and burgundy. He said, "The owner asked us to modify the colour scheme, design details and overall decoration to give the interior a contemporary design.”

Various materials and finishes were selected to create a distinction between areas, including matte finishes and brushed spruce and grey Koto woodwork. The en-suites have been fitted with Nero Setta and Bianco Neve marbles.

The relaxed, modern style is continued on the main deck, with a glass-sided veranda leading into the main saloon with an L-shaped sofa and indoor dining area for up to 10 guests. Paola Lenti furniture has been used throughout.

Other key features on Home include a circular spa pool and 4.8m bar area situated on the sundeck and sheltered by a large hardtop.

Accommodation allows for up to 12 guests split across six staterooms, including the owner’s suite situated on the main deck, with its own office and walk-in wardrobes. The guest cabins on the lower deck are separated from the yacht’s engine room by a gym.

This all-aluminium yacht is the owner’s first Heesen and will be a new breed to the Heesen’s line up – adding hybrid propulsion system to the innovative Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) that was developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects.

Home is focused on high efficiency and is said to burn 98 litres of fuel per hour at 12 knots, and only 57 litres per hour at 10 knots.

Her top speed is 16.3 knots when powered by her main engines - twin 804hp MTU 12V 2000 M61s.  These smaller engines mean the yacht will also be more spacious, with less room taken up by the engine room.

With a particular attention to weight control, Home is predicted to achieve a transatlantic range of 3,750 nautical miles while cruising at 12 knots, despite carrying just 45,000 litres of fuel.

Home also puts priority on silence; the ultimate luxury. Its diesel-electric propulsion system will allow for silent cruising at up to nine knots, and, while cruising in electric mode, she is predicted she will only register 46 decibels of noise in the owner’s suite - the equivalent volume level of soft rainfall.
