Heesen’s Project Castor delivered and named Solemates

Dutch yard Heesen has delivered the 55-metre (180-foot) superyacht Project Castor, which has been named Solemates.

The fourth hull in Heesen's 55-metre Steel Class series, Soulmates hit the water for the first time in May before undertaking successful sea trials in the North Sea. 

The yacht features exterior design by Omega Architects' Frank Laupman, which has been described as utilising ‘muscular overtones’.

Her exterior boasts vertical floor to ceiling windows in the forward section of the main deck, as well as full height windows in the main saloon and sky lounge, with another prominent feature being the ‘shark tooth’ design detail of the wheelhouse overhang.

The 760GT superyacht also features a fast displacement hull designed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects.

Solemates sports various alterations to the first three 55-metre Steel Class yachts. These include a full beam sky lounge, larger master stateroom of 73 square metres and bigger lower deck suites.

Bannenberg & Rowell worked in collaboration with the Dutch yard, for the eighth time, to design Solemates’ interior.

Key interior materials include ‘signature woods and natural stones’ with a ‘warm colour palette’. Meanwhile, floor-to-ceiling windows will provide vast amounts of natural light.

Powered by two MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesel main engines, Solemates boasts a top speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots.
