Hiswa in-water boat show set to feature over 300 boats

Europe’s largest in-water boat show, held at the Batavia Haven marina in Lelystad, is scheduled to go ahead from 1st to 5th September. The prime location will showcase over 300 boats, ranging from dinghies to superyachts.

Exhibitions such as the ‘Theater aan het Water’ will present a varied daily programme, including the Sailing Together Quiz, live-music, workshops, presentations by the Vaarwens Foundation and recordings of the Sailing Pleasure Podcast. The winners for various awards such as the Boat of the Year and the Public's Favourite will also be announced.

Attractions will include the Mercury stand showcasing the latest Bernico, a Dockmate demonstration on how you can use a remote control to moor your boat, and 3D-building demonstrations. For sailing enthusiasts there will be day sailors, and various launches and tenders will be on display. Young visitors are invited to have a go at sailing or stand-up-paddling, courtesy of the Pean sailing school and Optimist on Tour programme.

During the show a 3D printed model of the new vessel owned by charitable organisation Vaarwens foundation will also be on display. Bids can be made for the model during an auction, with the proceeds to be donated back to the charity. Former Olympian Pieter-Jan Postma will also be present to talk about the upcoming DutchSail project.

Director of the Hiswa in-water boat show, Arjen Rahusen, has ensured that the safety of visitors is of utmost priority following the COVID-19 pandemic, with necessary precautions in place to minimise risk. After the cancellation of the water sports exhibition last year as a result of the pandemic, the organisation and exhibitors have pulled out all the stops to make this year’s edition a memorable experience.
