IGY Marinas opens new facility for world's largest yachts

IGY Marinas has officially opened its new superyacht marina at Sète in the South of France, as part of its strategic plan to build a strong presence in Europe. The purpose-built facility is able to berth the world’s largest yachts, up to 180 metres (591 feet), larger than any superyacht currently built.

Tom Mukamal, CEO at IGY Marinas, commented on the opening, saying, “We are thrilled the Port of Sète called upon us to work on this project and together we have built one of the best purpose-built superyacht marinas to have been opened in recent years within the Mediterranean.”

Developed in close cooperation with the Sète Port Authority, IGY Sète Marina is a certified ISPS port with 24-hour security and provides ample storage and parking adjacent to the vessel with the potential to assist crew and support maintenance. The marina received its first vessel recently and is currently accepting short- and long-term reservations, as well as berth ownership opportunities with an array of perks and benefits.

Sète joins Porto Cervo marina in Sardinia which IGY also manages, and the company has a strategy to significantly increase its European activities. At a presentation at the Monaco Yacht Show last year, Kenny Jones, executive vice president of operations for IGY, indicated that the business was looking at more than 30 opportunities across the Mediterranean.

The facility will offer the services and amenities expected of an IGY marina, including gated 24-hour security, in-slip fuelling, grey and blackwater pump-out, full vessel concierge, recycling, hazardous waste disposal and wireless internet. Additionally, berth owners at IGY Sète Marina will have access to alongside parking, customised storage, fibre-optic internet, and additional security measures such as the installation of additional lighting and CCTV.

The clubhouse, which will be completed winter 2019, will house the captain and crew lounge, fitness centre with showers and changing facilities, Wi-Fi-equipped business centre, and a rooftop terrace.
