INTELblast completes work on 55m Amels

INTELblast, a leading yacht cleaning company in Spain, has announced the use of an innovative cleaning technique after finishing a job on La Masquerade II, a 55m Amels superyacht. They unblocked the tubes of the Insinkerator pipeline from the galley, through the cabins and engine room to the overboard waste exit on board the luxury yacht with air techniques.

Luke Murphy from INTELblast commented, “The benefits of this technique are quite simple; traditionally a spring system or high pressure water and chemicals are used, however if you are using high pressure water and the pipes are not properly sealed, it can produce serious water leakages. La Masquerade II had this particular pipe cleaned with water the last time it blocked and then ended up having massive leakages over the owner’s cabin. With this technique we ensure the risks of flooding are greatly reduced as the only water that could leak is the water trapped inside the pipe. It offers a mess-free clean. No use of water or chemicals and no destruction of surfaces. This is something we’ve never offered before, but recently we have done two or three jobs.”

Luke also explained how soon after this job was completed La Masquerade II were back in touch with INTELblast, this time it was for the scupper drainage system being blocked. Luke explained, “Due to the complexities of finding where the blockage was (Sun deck/bridge deck/ main deck), the spring system was not an option. INTELblast had manufactured some scupper plate covers which could be screwed into the scupper drain as well as a scupper plate with a welded coupling for the compressed air hose. With the help of INTELblast’s 11m3/min - 14 bar compressor the scupper drainage system was again unblocked just in time for the yacht to set sail.”

Tomasz Szwed, captain of La Masquerade said, “I would like to thank the company INTELblast and the manager Luke Murphy for very creative and successful attempts with a few repairs done on board of M/Y La Masquerade.  They did a good job and solved our long existing problems. I can recommend INTELblast to any customer.”

With the refit and repair season soon to start, Luke also pointed out how important it is for the yachts to check their water tanks and steel parts. He explained, “Corrosion is, of all the complicated subjects one needs to know as a yacht captain or owner, probably the most difficult, and least understood. If not treated in time and appropriately it can become a real cancer. Any steel surface, water tank or air dock system with corrosion if not treated can become your worst enemy.

“This needs to be checked at least every three or four years, if any bubbles or cracks in the coating are visible then it is a sign of corrosion. INTELblast offers a 360-degree service that will treat and remove corrosion and will also offer the coating along with other industry professionals.”

INTELblast also announced they have joined forces with Marinevac International in a strategic alliance to offer a more complete superyacht service.

Luke finished by stating that October is set to be a busy month, as the company will be attending three international events and shows, including the Barcelona Boat Show.
