Investors bidding to build new Malaga marina

Bids are reportedly coming in from specialist investors in maritime construction projects to develop the new 500-berth San Andrés marina in Huelin, Malaga, around 50km (31 miles) northeast of Marbella on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

A 50-year licence is available to the winning bidder, with the completed project expected to include restaurants, shops and a yacht club.

Carlos Rubio, head of the Malaga Port Authority, expects that Al Alfia, the Qatari investment fund trying to construct a luxury hotel near the existing cruise terminal, will be one of the bidders.

EuroWeeklyNews reported speculation another bidder would be the management company of the luxury 900+-berth Puerto Banús marina in Marbella, plus companies who run similar marinas in the Balearic Islands.

The closing date for bids is 30th November 2020.
