Italian Superyacht Life Foundation launches new training courses

Offered By Bachelor Degree in Business for Yacht Captains by NAVIGO & ISYL

The Italian Superyacht Life Foundation (ISYL) will be launching three new training courses at the end of October 2021, offering 75 places to those aspiring to work in Italy’s marine leisure market.

The courses cover yacht design, yacht surveying and marketing in the luxury or fashion sectors, with a focus on the yachting markets. The training courses are being offered at the Viareggio-based ISYL, Italy’s only higher technical institute devoted to yachting. Registration for the courses is now open to graduates between 18 and 30 years of age.

The course offered for design and production of luxury yachts will prepare candidates for the profession of superior technician, with a focus on the production and maintenance of means of transport and/or related infrastructures. The two-year course is open to 25 graduates and also addresses the logistics aspects of building and delivering luxury boats and yachts.

The yachting surveyor course will also be held for two years, offering places for up to 25 graduates, and will provide comprehensive training for the yacht surveyor profession both on board and on land from the start of construction of a boat.

For the luxury international expert course, training will be held for two years and is open to 25 students. Key elements of this course include skills for the promotion, marketing and internationalisation of the nautical and fashion sectors. The student will become qualified higher technicians for marketing and the international operations of companies.

ISYL is supported in respect of the courses and the training involved by five local yacht builders, the Azimut-Benetti Group, Cantieri Navali Codecasa, the Overmarine Group (Maiori Yachts brand), Rossinavi and Perini Navi. The yards also work with Navigo, a company funded by the Tuscany region, to support the region’s important marine leisure industry. Founded in 2007, Navigo is the largest network of nautical companies in Italy, and one of the most important in Europe.

Navigo is responsible for operating ISYL as a dedicated yachting educational centre, training future captains and yachting industry experts. Over 350 companies are associated with RETE PENTA, the network of Tuscan nautical centres coordinated by Navigo, and around 150 are part of Navigo. This includes major shipyards and suppliers in the area, yacht managers, service companies, ports, and industry associations.
