Karpaz Gate Marina offers diving and a new 2013 berthing package

Visitors to Karpaz Gate Marina can now experience the diving conditions on offer in North Cyprus after renowned local school, Mephisto Diving moved to new premises at the venue.  The Marina is also offering a unique berthing package in 2013.

The diving centre coup for the marina represents a significant addition to the growing list of leisure facilities and attractions already available, including Hemingway’s Resto-Bar, the International Beach Club, with adults’ and children’s pools, and state-of-the-art fitness centre.

The 13th month is also free for lucky boat owners staying at Karpaz Gate Marina as part of a unique berthing package for 2013.

The highlight of the package is a free lift and launch, free hull wash with one month of free hard standing and two coats of free, professionally-applied antifouling, which will benefit boat owners berthing at Karpaz Gate Marina for more than six months.

With marina prices already fixed at 2012 rates and Karpaz enjoying a tax-free environment, there are already reasons for boat owners to enjoy a long-term stay in this beautiful area of the Eastern Mediterranean.

There are a range of engineering and boat maintenance services available at the Marina, including an 18,000 sq m dry dock for refit and repairs. A substantial 300-ton travel lift, one of the largest in the region, is capable of lifting vessels up to 45 metres and with a beam of up to 10 metres. These vessels can be accommodated ashore or antifouled in the slings.

With the eastern tip of the Karpaz Peninsula providing some of the best diving in Cyprus, now Mephisto can draw on some 10 years’ experience and knowledge of the area to guide both beginners and experienced divers from their new marina base.

The school was founded on North Cyprus in 2003 by Marion Buckmueller and has built up a strong reputation at its previous site at Yeni Erenkoy at Malibu Beach.

Marion, who is a qualified Open Water Scuba instructor with PADI since 2000 and SSI since 2009, is originally German and speaks English, Turkish and French, as well as her native language.

Marion commented, “Our new premises near the Beach Club at Karpaz Gate are much better and we expect the clientele to be more interested in diving.  We are literally only moving about one mile.”

For new divers, the small bay has water depths from 0 to 18 metres, while right outside the bay there is deep diving up to 40 metres.
