Yacht broker

Nobody knows yachts, and the luxurious holiday experience that guests can enjoy on them, better than ex-crew. Working as a yacht broker is a role that many ex-yachties find themselves in and is seen as a rewarding job after yachting. Brokers often specialise in yacht sales, yacht charters, or management of new yacht builds. Yacht brokerage houses are located across the world, typically found in some of the most popular yachting destinations, including Monaco, Fort Lauderdale, Newport Rhode Island, and in Palma de Mallorca.

Personal assistant/estate manager/private chef

UHNW yacht owners don’t just own lavish yachts that need to be managed. They also tend to have luxurious homes across the world, which all need a dedicated team to help run them. Many jobs after yachting include working for UHNWIs, in a role such as personal assistant, housekeeper, estate manager, butler, or private chef. Ex-crew are ideally suited to these positions as they uniquely understand the needs, desires, and exacting standards required by UHNWIs.

Working in yacht crew recruitment is a great job after yachting, where ex-yachties can use their extensive insider knowledge to help place qualified candidates. Ex-crew intimately understand the different roles aboard yachts and the skills and qualifications required for each one. They also appreciate the qualities that candidates need to possess to forge a successful life at sea. There is always a high demand for qualified yacht crew, making recruiters central in the search for candidates.

Yachts, especially charter yachts, frequently host elaborate parties for owners and their guests, with the crew playing a central role in coordinating and organising the event. Working as an event planner is a popular job after yachting, especially planning high-end events for UHNWIs. Yacht crew’s ability to think on their feet, work long hours, and their ability to execute events to the very highest of standards, makes this job a perfect fit for ex-crew wishing to forge a career for themselves on dry land.
