Korean International Boat Show proves a success for Bray Yacht Design

Bray Yacht Design and Research Ltd has reported a busy spring period, with current projects including continuing to provide naval architecture for Drettmann Yacht’s new vessels, which are built by Master Marine in Korea. The largest project to date is a steel 32m “ice class” diesel/electric expedition motor yacht.

After attending the Korean International Boat Show, Patrick Bray spent an additional two days at Mater Marine’s shipyard in Mokpo, South Korea. In addition Bray Yacht Design has been contracted to provide a 27m version and are in discussions for a new shallow draft 24m version.

During the boat show, Drettmann Yachts also signed a new build contract for two 20m motor yachts with Master Marine. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr Bray, the yard owner, yard management, the Drettmann representative and the Governor of Gyeonggi Province. The Governor has placed considerable importance on the yachting industry and the building of yachting infrastructure. Contract signings are a formal process in Korea and marked with great ceremony.

Bray Yacht Design is currently collaborating with Pendennis Shipyard on a new project which will be unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show this year. The unique 125ft explorer yacht has a flexible design platform capable of being an “ice class” toy carrier, acting as a long range mother ship to a sportfish, support companion vessel, or research ship. The hull form is the most advanced available, delivering super fuel efficiency, excellent sea keeping, and fast speeds.
