LIGNIA’s award-winning product LIGNIA Yacht has secured another title, picking up a coveted DAME Design Award at METSTRADE 2019.
The real wood alternative to teak decking made it to the final in the ‘Marina equipment, boatyard equipment and boat construction tools and materials’ category and saw off strong competition to take the prize.
In a release, LIGNIA said, “We couldn’t be happier after a successful year for LIGNIA Yacht – our modified timber was a finalist at the Maritime UK Awards for Innovation in September, and it won a highly prestigious Innovation award at the IBEX Yacht Show in Florida in October.”
LIGNIA Yacht is a sustainable alternative to teak. Made from radiate pine that is grown on FSC® plantations and is then modified in the company’s 50,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Wales, UK, offering a responsible alternative to teak for yacht decking. The resulting LIGNIA Yacht wood has all the properties and beauty of teak – and, according to the yard, often surpasses it.
It is now being specified on yachts worldwide, including the Spirit Yachts 50CR which was unveiled at Southampton Boat Show earlier this year.
Hans Ng, LIGNIA CEO, noted, “We first launched LIGNIA Yacht at METSTRADE 2018, so we’re delighted to be walking away with a DAME Design Award one year on. It just goes to show that LIGNIA Yacht is making real waves in the marine world – we can’t wait to see what’s next.”
LIGNIA will be exhibiting at METSTRADE on stand CMP.15.EL.
